Bowl Weekend Spectacular: NFL & NCAA Picks
Posted on December 28th, 2007 by Jim under Sports Bet BookIts a college bowl weekend this go-around. That means you get a bonus 3 picks on college games! Lets rock.
We did well last week, 2/3 games gets us in the money every time. Lets continue the streak this week on a six-game set, three NFL and three NCAA games. Keep in mind that these lines are adjusted as of this posting.
NCAA Game 1: Boston College Golden Eagles (-5.5)
The Golden Eagles ended their 2007 season by losing two games and dropping the ACC title after being ranked as high as 2nd in the nation. The Michigan State Spartans closed out their season in a comeback victory over the Penn State. But luck is reversed in this game, as BC shows how they earned a 10-3 record. BC is 10-0 out of conference and the Spartans can’t seem to win in December (2-5).
NCAA Game 2: Penn State Nittany Lions (-5.5)
The Nittany Lions wreaked havoc in the ‘99 Alamo Bowl against the Aggies, routing them 24-0. This time shouldn’t be much different. Penn Staters are hungry for a win after an ugly finish of the regular season, defensive stars Sean Lee and Dan Conner should have their way with the A&M front line in this one.
NCAA Game 3: UConn Huskies (+3)
Call it a hunch, but I just don’t have any confidence in the Demon Deacons. While this is a Final Four-type match up in all respects, you have to trust the Huskies, ranked in the top-20 for a few weeks, over the 8-4 Wake Forest squad who was mediocre at best.
NFL Game 4: Washington Redskins (-9.5)
Writing this from Redskins central, all of the fans here smell a victory. While I don’t usually promote such a spread, I think it’s in the cards. The Cowboys have NOTHING to play for after clinching home field throughout the playoffs last week. Adding to this, the Skins are surging (3 straight), Terrell Owens is out with an injury, and Washington absolutely hates Dallas.
NFL Game 5: Minnesota Vikings (-3)
Following the playoff scramble in the NFC, the Vikings are a team that absolutely needs a win this week. The game’s host, the 6-9 Denver Broncos, have dropped two straight and no longer have a chance at the post season. 3 points is a gimmie in this situation, take it.
NFL Game 6: Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5)
The Baltimore Ravens have lost 9 straight and lost the first match up 38-7. I could just as well stop there, but it gets better. The Steelers need this game to lock up a home field wild card game. Even without superstar running back Willie Parker, Najeh Davenport had 123 yards and a score last week. Mark it down.
This week is looking up, more bowl games next week!
