Everyone is having a contest though most are not useful…but still they are doing it to promote one thing or another!!

Some are useless, like if the prize is an adspot in a blog with 10 subscribers. Or too much hassle for a small prize. The most usable prize is hard cash IMO

I don’t personally participate in a lot of contests. I did win $20 not too long ago completing offers on a site, and wasn’t even trying and was quite pleasantly surprised. @ Agent: That’s a good point that contests may inspire you to post more. That could definitely be true in some cases; however, I think that blogging contests typically are more of a strain than they are a positive.

And I can’t believe you just said a Mac laptop is a lousy prize with a straight face! Get outta here!

Dnxpert has really got a good contest but contest by Bloggin-Ads is not much good. Why will you want to win a mac when you already got a PC? By the way, the contests are increasing a lot. But I do not think they are killing contents. I am holding a contest on my blog and due to the contest now I am a daily blogger. If I do not post then I will feel guilty.
