Sportsbook.com Review

Posted by Jim in Sportsbook Reviews

Today I’d like to take a look at the internet’s #1 sportsbook, Sportsbook.com. Phenomenal as they are in providing customers with top-notch support and features, I have struggled myself with their service and had my account unfairly shut down. Yet even with this in mind, I recommend Sportsbook.com to everyone (over 18) because they have made recent changes to improve their services and reduce their fees. Let’s have a look at the number one sportsbook on the net.

Recently, Sportsbook.com dropped their deposit minimum from $50 to $20. I think this was an excellent move, as it should encourage more amateur players to give it a whirl. More than this, Sportsbook.com’s main pull comes from their superior bonus offerings. They routinely endorse offers like 50% deposit bonuses and referral incentives. Currently, they are running a 10% first-deposit bonus which is pretty standard. In addition, you get 5% on every deposit after that and 21% of every one of your referral’s deposits. Keep in mind that these guys are trained to take your money, and they will get the better end if you squander this generosity… so bet smart to protect your advantage!

Sportsbook.com provides the same spreads you see on ESPN.com and most major newspapers, so you know the lines are fair. But before we dwell into that, one of the first concerns is usually “how do you deposit and/or withdraw money?” While I have neglected their services for a while (I prefer Bodog Sportsbook!), checking up on their payment/withdrawal methods has revealed improvement. Finally, you can withdraw money for free once a month (as of June 2007). It really pained me before to see it so hard to get money from Sportsbook.com, but now it is available without fee via check or wire transfer once a month (otherwise $40 fee). Depositing is even easier. Deposits can be made fee-free by using a credit card (Visa & Mastercard accepted) or cash transfer. Read the rest of this entry »

GPT Reviews: FusionCash

Posted by Jim in GPT Reviews

FusionCash is certainly one of the more established GPT programs on the internet. They have just about 18,000 members and have reportedly payed out $1.426 million since June 2005 (an average $80 per user!). Arguably the most successful GPT website, FusionCash delivers exceptional service, plenty of offers, 3 payout options and a cash out minimum of $25 dollars. While it falls short on community, ease of use bumps this to a strong buy.

The Net Fool gives FusionCash a 4-out-of-5 rating

FusionCash is my play for people over the age of 21 looking to make their money online. Over 21? Why!? I see this site as a more professional move into GPT cash. There are no type of forum-based contests available, there is no incentivized contest like Treasure Trooper’s Treasure Hunt or SWATcash’s Missions and there is no credit system like that on basically every other GPT website. So how are they bringing in all of these members? I think their age demographic is higher than other websites, mainly because it is more “adult” and seems to be the place to make money without wasting time on side-quests. If you want to cut the crap and take cash off the table, FusionCash is the place to be.

FusionCash gets a 4/5 rating because they are superior if not for the lack of bonuses. Taking a look at the website objectively, their payouts are high and they offer three methods of payout: check, PayPal and direct deposit. You really don’t see people offering direct deposit anymore, and that is an indicator of security in the business. I myself chose “check” and was payed on schedule at just over $25, the minimum cash out. Lots of people on the FusionCash forum have argued claims on having missing payment, and that the site is a scam. But I assure you, they are no scam. Understanding the GPT business goes to show there is really no incentive to cheat customers. Established in the GPT community, you can trust these guys. Read the rest of this entry »

Stock Market 2008: Basic Materials

Posted by Jim in Sector Outlook

During recessionary times, some of the safest places to invest in the stock market can be found in materials company. The gold & silver sub-industry has been one of the few positive gainers year-to-date. Generally more stable than most industries through troubled times, the basic materials sector is in a great position to make money in 2008.

Chemicals - The Net Fool Picks Mosaic (NYSE: MOS)
The Mosaic Company doubled about 2.5 times in 2008, and they have room to grow. While they hit a high at around $110 and are down now to $80, I am thinking they will fall off a bit more ($72-$76) which is where you buy. So what exactly do they do? Mosaic produces chemical fertilizers used to feed crops and animals. The agriculture sector is one of the safest in a recession, and Mosaic has been red hot.

The S&P upgraded their credit rating to “BB+” on January 11th because of strong operating results, and Reuters/Multex finds them outperforming the market for 2008. Their competitors, Agrium (NYSE: AGU) and Potash (NYSE: POT) are simply not as safe as Mosaic in an economic downtrend. Agrium has a much smaller market cap at under 8 billion (Mosaic is at 35.5 billion), and you need a large-cap performer in these conditions. Potash has the market cap, but is trading at a higher multiple then Mosaic and their PEG ratio of 3.8 is too high for their own good. Time to get bullish on Mosaic.

Metal Mining - The Net Fool Picks Rio Tinto (NYSE: RTP)
Looking at the 5-year chart, the sky is the limit for Rio Tinto plc. Top competitor Vale (NYSE: RIO) is in talks to acquire Anglo-Swiss mining group Xstrata, but “warned a deal would be difficult to pull off in current market conditions.” I don’t think it will go through, but on the other hand, RTP is an acquisition target for BHP Billiton… a much more likely deal. This merger “would make large cost reductions possible” according to Standard and Poor’s, and would lend added exposure to oil and natural gas.

While the merger proposition looks promising, even it fails, Rio Tinto has a lot of upside after a drop-off in January. Producing minerals and metals from diamonds and copper to coal and salt, RTP has the market hedging we love to see. Commodity prices should remain relatively strong in a receding economy, so Rio Tinto has that safe play look with the strong upside of being acquired. Read the rest of this entry »

GPT Reviews: SWATcash

Posted by Jim in GPT Reviews

SWATcash is the Net Fool 2008 GPT Website of the year. Why? Because they care! We all get sick of websites throwing around empty promises about what you will be receiving, and why they are better than competitors. SWATcash locks it down with superior payouts, unbeatable bonuses and a user community that can’t be beat.

The Net Fool gives SWATcash a 5-out-of-5 rating

On January 14th, 2008, SWATcash unveiled a brand new template without releasing any previous indications there would be such a major upgrade. While the old layout wasn’t the worst, it was certainly cluttered. As they have upgraded their look, I have upgraded them from a 4 to a 5 in my ratings system. Now, everything is easy to read and the template gets a 5/5 on cleanliness and professional appeal.

The best part of SWATcash without question is their forum. While many other GPT offer support forums with minor contests running occasionally, swatcommunity.com offers monthly contests worth $1000s and a lot of helpful content. If you are going to be a member at SWATcash, you are going to want to join the forums to maximize your payment. I know I did.

One of the things I like about SWATcash is that they pay the highest percentage of earnings in the business. You will notice first that they propose $1 per “free offer” whereas other gpts offer only $0.50. But all of their credit-card offers provide more revenue as well. Taking “eBay” as an example, Treasure Trooper pays $6 and Cash Crate pays $8, but SWATcash currently offers a $10 payout! Read the rest of this entry »

GPT Reviews: CashCrate

Posted by Jim in GPT Reviews

CashCrate is a professional GPT website that has been thriving for the past three years of operation. I was one of the first members at this website, and since the beginning it has been a reliable source of cash flow. Sure, they may not have the frills offered by the likes of TreasureTrooper or SWATcash, but with their clean-and-simple layout and high payout ratios, CashCrate is a name you can trust.

The Net Fool gives CashCrate a 4-out-of-5 rating

CashCrate is nothing special, and this remains a part of their charm. While other websites promise to get you involved in contests that require a lot of your time, CashCrate is their in the background updating offers and making you money. Their main campaign promises “up to 75% payout ratios,” which we know to be above average. Currently, only check payments are accepted, which is a big downside for many people. But with a low $10 minimum, it’s easy to get paid. Some previous payouts:

As an alternative to what I call a “game” (such as a treasure hunt), CashCrate offers a point-based rewards system. By collecting “points,” you can redeem them for rewards in the “prize shop” for things like gift cards and iPods! There are a variety of ways to earn points too. A percentage of every cash offer gets you points, and you can do offers for points exclusively if you choose. I don’t know the conversion ratio of points-to-money, but it doesn’t seem very good.
